Yes, I said it.
Meh.
That just about sums up this year for everyone. For those of us in the U.S., we had an election. Many of us are thankful for the high turn out and the vote for humane decency. A vocal few are not only discontented with the outcome, they are yelling about fraud which didn't happen.
As a minister, I tried hard to not share my opinion on this page or on my Facebook account for Ratatoskr Ministries. That was a major struggle. People are political. We have opinions. However, I do not trust clergy who tell me how to vote and I make every effort to say Vote. But not say how to vote.
It is a government holiday here. We are supposed to be thankful for a myth. I'm grateful to my ancestors from both sides of the Atlantic. Without them, I wouldn't be here. I am grateful for being blessed with technological wonders I couldn't dream of as a child. (Born in 1962, computers did not show up in schools until after I graduated from high school.) I am grateful for living in a time and a place with so many conveniences.
As someone who was born on the tag end of the baby boom, I am considered a boomer. I feel as if I should apologize for the mess older boomers made of things. I wish I could have been more proactive in protesting changes in work culture that necessitated people needing 2 or more jobs just to survive. So many times I felt like a lone voice in the wilderness.
As this train wreck of a year comes to an end, practice the pause. Reflect on your choices. Try to make good choices, think of the greater good and of community instead of selfish desires.
Bless Be on a day of mourning and of thanks.
